Privacy policy

This policy explains what information Jake Tech Lab (jaketechlab.com) collects when you visit, how it is used, and the choices you have. We don't offer accounts, and we don't ask for your name, email or payment details.

What we collect

• Usage data, through Google Analytics. Pages you view, links and buttons you click (for example “Check price”), how you arrived, your device and browser type, and your approximate location (country or city, derived from your IP address). We use this to understand which comparisons are useful and to improve the site.
• A theme preference (light or dark), stored in your browser's local storage. It never leaves your device.
• Technical data such as your IP address, which our hosting and security provider, Cloudflare, processes to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse.

Cookies

Google Analytics sets cookies (such as _ga) to tell visits apart. If we show advertising, Google and its partners also use cookies, as described below. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site still works without them.

Advertising

We may show ads served by Google AdSense. In connection with those ads:

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
• You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info.

Some “Check price” links go through a redirect on our site (/go/…) to a retailer or provider, and some are affiliate links. The retailer may set its own cookies to credit us with a referral. Their privacy policies apply once you are on their site. See our affiliate disclosure.

How we use and share information

We use the information above only to run, measure and improve the site and, if ads are shown, to support it through advertising. We don't sell personal information. Data is shared only with the service providers named here (Google and Cloudflare), who process it under their own privacy policies: Google, Cloudflare.

Your choices and rights

• Opt out of Google Analytics with Google's browser add-on, or by blocking cookies.
• Opt out of personalized ads using the links in the Advertising section above.
• Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in Europe or the CCPA in California), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data about you, or to object to its use. Email [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
